Job Description:  Team Leader 2nd shift manufacturing:

 

Mission: (in support of company PVMV, Metrics, CSFs)

 

Lead your team in conducting daily team business, coordinating effectively with all other teams and staff.  Improve team performance through training, education, Continuous Process Improvements (CPI), LEAN, etc.

 

Critical Success Factors/Metrics:  (Results based)

  • Primary focus is on meeting company Top level Metrics
    • Warranty return goal: < 0.5%
    • On-Time-Delivery to Published Standard:  90%
    • 60% Productivity
    • 80% Utilization
    • Accident free; create and maintain a safe environment
    • Create Team metrics to support these goals, where applicable
  • Team member hiring training, retention, evaluation
    • All people in right roles on the team, fully trained and competent
    • 97% retention rate
    • 360 reviews on time
    • Crossed trained to set up, program, and operate machines in team member absence

 

Skills/Tools/Tasks:

  • Improve/Grow team performance (time allocation 60%)
    • 360 review of team members (minus compensation)
    • Scheduling, vacations, overtime management
    • 6S accountability to staff
    • CPI (initiate and “own” CPI events in your area, including equipment improvements, LEAN, Standardization, etc., to simplify and improve quality and efficiency. Utilize ME/IE resources as support, utilize outside facilitators
    • Create and “own” work instructions, review with all team members annually
    • Trainer proficiency: Train all team members in all necessary qualities and skill
    • Problem solving: address any problems that arise on your shift for team members
  • Run the team business (time allocation 40%)
    • Lead team members in running daily business processes
    • Coordination with other teams in meeting customer demands
    • Coordinate activities between shifts in your area
    • Cover team capacity shortages when peaks arise
    • Step in for any team member when absent, assist in any team duties when required
    • Forklift operation as needed
  • Develop people in your department-Continuing Education
    • Monitor team member curriculum and make sure it is being followed
    • Career path encouragement/support for each employee
  • Self-Development
    • Proficient in Leadership tools, especially TL, implement regularly
    • Learning formalized: Leadership, Interpersonal, Technical, STOBER policies, etc.

 

PHYSCIAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is minimally exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing-all day, walking-part of the day, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing part of the day. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to look at a computer screen for most of the day. The ability to focus on the job at hand .
