Job Description

Summary/Objective
The Data Analyst must be comfortable working with SAP, databases, tables, spreadsheets, reporting software, analysis tools, etc. Analysts are information technologists who analyze data and assist with using data to help the departments and overall business make the best decisions possible. Reports to IT manager.
  • The Data Analyst’s main duties and responsibilities are: Providing expertise in: Data gathering, Analyzing, Executing
  • Providing best practices and Training/assisting departmental key users to use data for decision making
  • Creating and maintaining usable data models
  • Application testing
  • Presenting relative information (I.e. Analysis information, metrics, best practices, etc) to others in the company
  • Develop customized reports according to department or management needs
  • Ensure data quality and integrity
  • Analyze statistics, other metrics and helps look for trends
  • Provides end-user training on data access and report creation and analysis
  • Data visualization and dashboard creation for: metrics, forecasting, quality, delivery, etc.
  • Help set and enforce data, naming and process standards
  • Help identify tools and methods for overall business success
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate, work within a team environment and create narratives for easy to understand information - Identify new opportunities for process improvement
  • Assist with report automation
  • Other tasks as assigned
Critical Skills:

  • Strong familiarity and working with disparate data and database systems
  • Data design strategies and techniques
  • Strong numerical and statistical skills
  • Interpretation of aggregate data based on patterns and trends
  • Critical thinking
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate, work within a team environment and create narratives for easy to understand information
  • Degree in math, statistics, computer science, information management, actuarial science, finance or economics
  • Two years or more experience
Technical Skills:
  • Statistical methods and packages (i.e. SPSS, Minitab)
  • Data warehousing and business intelligence platforms (i.e. QlikView, CRM)
  • Querying (i.e. SQL, Hive)
  • Scripting (i.e. Matlab, Python)
  • Programming (i.e. Python, Ruby, R, C++, SAS)
  • Data structures (i.e. XML, JSON, NoSQL, SQL, DataCubes)
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and other data manipulation tools
  • Database and table design
  • Data mining
  • Data cleaning and munging
  • Data visualization and reporting techniques
